A qualified Naval Architect and Surveyor, David Cannell
worked for Lloyd's Register of Shipping Yacht and Small Craft Department
before setting up his own practice designing and surveying. A Fellow
of The Royal Institution of Naval Architects and Chartered Engineer,
he has also served as President of The Yacht Brokers Designers and
Surveyors Association and is currently Chairman of the RINA Small
Craft Group. David Cannell is also a Member of The Academy of Experts,
undertaking Expert Witness work, arbitrations and mediations.

James Pratt gained a BEng(Hons) in Naval Architecture
and Ocean Engineering at University College London. His Final Year
Project involved designing and tanktesting a hydrofoil supported
sailing dinghy and achieved an 'A' grade.
Following a year out James was employed as Naval Architect Project
Leader with British Maritime Technology - BMT Group Ltd at their
Teddington NPL Test Tank facility. Projects there involved both
model and full scale testing of vessels, including Warships, SWATHs,
fast ferries, lifeboats, patrol boats together with yachts and smaller
craft. Wash, hullform optimisation and stability became significant
areas of his work.
James joined David M. Cannell & Associates in 1993.
He is involved as Naval Architect and Surveyor in all areas of the
firm's design, surveying and consultancy activities. He is a corporate
member of RINA and Full Designer Member of the YDSA.
