Design
DMC&A is able, possibly to uniquely, to draw on not
only design research and development in designing new vessels, but also
knowledge of the performance and maintenance of vessels over extended periods
of use, gained over many years surveying commercial vessels.
This ultimately leads to not only a design which meets the clients speed,
powering and seakeeping requirements, but to a vessel which is more reliable
mechanically and structurally through life, with least maintenance cost
and time out of service.
New designs of vessels in the "small ship" range (up to 100m)
can be undertaken or our a library of existing designs may be drawn from.
In the procurement of a new vessel experience shows the smoothest running
projects which result in the most satisfactory vessels involve us as early
as possible in the following stages:
- Discussions to identify the
type of vessel required
- Preparation of initial design
study and outline specification
- Discussion of design study
and modifications
- Tender and Contract document
preparation
- Preparation of sufficient
working drawings to enable an experienced yard to tender for building
the vessel.
- Issuing to tender and analysis
of tenders submitted
- Preparation of detailed
design and construction drawings
- Periodic inspections during
build checking accounts at Stage Payment dates
- Attendance of trials
